Laser tattoo lightening: how it works and what to expect

The Q-Switched laser emits ultra-short, high-energy pulses that break ink particles into tiny fragments. The body then clears them naturally through the lymphatic system, session by session.

How many sessions?

It depends on the size, age, depth and colours of the ink, as well as your skin type. Professional tattoos usually need more sessions than amateur ones. The estimate is made at the initial assessment.

What to expect and aftercare

An interval is left between sessions so the skin recovers and the body clears the fragmented ink. Protecting the area from the sun and following aftercare guidance is key for a better result and lower risk of marks.

Safety

It should always be performed by qualified staff after a skin assessment. At Impuls Longevity (Barcelona) we work with a Q-Switched laser and design a personalised protocol for each tattoo.
